Aubserver Mailbag 18: The Long Haul

This week: Expectations for Year 1 under Bryan Harsin, transfer talk, staff changes, pressing, offensive tweaks, the MCU and bag men

Sometimes, things just work out.

On Wednesday, when I asked for Mailbag questions, Auburn still hadn’t finished its assistant coach staff. Naturally, there were a lot of questions about that spot that I just couldn’t answer at the time.

Then, Auburn announced that Bryan Harsin would speak to the media Thursday — a press conference that lasted nearly an hour, to my surprise and delight — and finalized the hire of the 10th assistant coach. That opened the door for a few more good questions and gave me some Harsin quotes to point back to in answers.

Maybe 2021 won’t be that bad. Let’s get to the Mailbag.

How do we think Coach Harsin’s first year will go? 6-6, 7-5? I’m excited for him to build the program, so obviously not expecting anything crazy in year 1.
