It’s about that time. A lot has happened since I last showed up in your inbox like this.

Auburn still has a football coach. Bruce Pearl remains the most popular man in Lee County. University leadership continues its unprecedented run of attending work.

This has been a wildly fun basketball season, though. I’ve said it before, but Auburn athletics surprised me in 2014 by making the easy decision to hire Pearl — a proven coach who had been successful everywhere he went — as opposed to gambling on a supposed up-and-coming assistant.

About eight years later, again, leadership got it right extending him with a pile of cash. I remember a brave podcast telling you this was the greatest team in the world. What a great group of guys.

Somewhat related, even though we would like to stress that neither of us cover baseball and you’d be wise to follow the writers who provide great coverage of this team, sweet Butch Thompson just gave you the green lig…
