During an offseason when everything is supposed to be getting back to normal, Bruce Pearl is thinking about doing something completely different.
He might delay the installation of his system for next season’s team.
“When we start individual workouts when the guys come back, I may not start team practice right away, where I’m actually going to start teaching our system,” Pearl said Tuesday night in Birmingham, before meeting with alumni as part of the athletic department’s AMBUSH tour. “I actually may take some of the time and watch them play pickup.”
Why? Because, in the words of Pearl, you — yes, you reading this newsletter right now — may have seen as much of his new roster play as he has.
“Really, a lot of it is just sort of projecting,” Pearl said.
