Depth isn’t much of a concern for Auburn football this season on the offensive side. The same can’t be said of the defense.
With more than 20 departures this offseason via transfer, graduation or NFL Draft declaration, Auburn’s defense doesn’t boast the same amount of depth it had on this side of the ball last year. One particular position group is extremely thin, while a couple of others could use some reinforcements this summer.
But the top-end talent is definitely there for Jeff Schmedding’s defense, which was one of the best ones in the entire SEC last year under Derek Mason.
Auburn has star power at all three levels and spent spring ball developing the next wave, including some youngsters who will get on the field earlier than expected. It just needs to get — and stay — healthy.
