More than eight months after he stood behind the podium for the first time as Auburn’s newly hired head coach, Bryan Harsin was back there Monday afternoon to kick off the first game week of his tenure.
Harsin’s presence alone in the Auburn Athletics Complex was important, as he missed the last week-plus due to a positive COVID-19 test result. As expected, he was back and ready to go Monday.
“The excitement, really, is the week of prep leading into the game,” Harsin said. “And then once we get to Saturday, it’s just letting these guys kind of loose and go play. That’s the fun part. That’s the opportunity for all the work that our players have put in. … We know it’s not going to be perfect. We don’t expect that. What we do want to be able to do is respond and adjust the way that we practiced.”
