We are officially a dozen days away from the start of Auburn football season, and this week will most likely be a hybrid of preseason work and true game preparation.

Early next week, we’ll most likely have some sort of depth chart for Auburn’s opener against UMass — and there’s still a lot up for grabs, even for a team that has already gone out of the way and named the preseason favorite its new starting quarterback.

This is a prediction of a two-deep depth chart on offense and defense, more or less, based on what we’ve seen and heard throughout fall camp on the Plains. Some position groups, like wide receiver, have multiple players on the same level, because it’s still hard to determine real separation for spots that will likely rotate a good bit.

There is still time for things to get shaken up between now and the opener, and Auburn is dealing with a handful of minor injuries that could impact Week 1.
