2026 Auburn Football Depth Chart Predictions
Before fall camp gets underway this week, here's where we think things will stand at each position group by the time the Tigers hit Week 1.
AUBURN — When the Auburn football team officially reports to campus to start preseason camp Tuesday, the goal for the next month will be simple.
After establishing their identity in the spring and summer, fall camp will be about finding out who they can trust during the regular season.
The new-look Tigers under Alex Golesh are a mix of transfers from USF and elsewhere, plus mostly young playmakers who decided to stay at Auburn after the coaching change and try to be part of the team that helped bring the program back.
Auburn did a good job of finding depth and balancing out its roster in a short amount of time, with every position group feeling like it has productive leaders who can roll right away while also mapping out a brighter future with some exciting youth.
But it’s not a roster that is widely expected to push for double-digit wins or a College Football Playoff spot in Year 1 — nor should it be, after the five straight losing seasons.
The path to real on-field improvement is clear. And if Auburn is going to turn some heads this fall and start this new era with a real bang, it will come from the players who emerge as the difference-makers on both sides of the ball during camp.
Before that gets underway with Tuesday’s report day and Wednesday’s first practice, let’s try to predict how a depth chart might look for Auburn’s season opener against Baylor in Atlanta in a month and some change.
Again, these are predictions and nothing official. A standard game week depth chart will have a ton of “or” designations — something we avoided here with the starters — and a lot could change between now and the first game week in September.
Each position group is divided into three sections: 1) Our predictions for the starters, 2) the rotation players that will round out the playing time behind them or the true backups, depending on the position group, and 3) the reserves who are longer shots to play significant roles at the moment.
We’ll use these predictions to see how much our views change over the course of the next several weeks of practice and identify the real stock-risers in camp.
Until then, though, these are our best bets for a depth chart, based on what we have seen and heard from the Tigers over the last several months of the offseason.
And we’ll start with by far the easiest position to project on the Plains right now.
