Who's stood out the most so far in Auburn football's fall camp?
With 10 practices down and school back in session, it's time to take a closer look at the top performers from the Tigers' preseason work.
AUBURN — The “camp” portion of Auburn’s preseason practices is essentially over. Classes start Monday, and the Tigers have moved out of their temporary homes at the Grand National resort in Opelika.
Auburn got double-digit practices in before heading back to classes, including a scrimmage last Friday inside Jordan-Hare Stadium. The Tigers went back to work Sunday after an off Saturday, and they’ll still practice Monday instead of the usual off day for the start of school.
It’s been a jam-packed couple of weeks at the Woltosz Football Performance Center. Half of the practices have featured viewing windows. Media members have been able to talk to Alex Golesh three times and almost every single assistant coach — there are only a few more left to go. The player interview count is over two dozen already.
The point is that we’ve gotten access to a ton of information from this fall camp so far. And there’s one go-to question on a lot of fans’ minds: Who are the standouts?
To kick off what is essentially the third week of preseason practices on the Plains, we’re going to answer that question.
Here are more than a dozen players who have impressed us the most in fall camp so far, based on what we’ve been able to see at practices and what we’ve heard from plenty of people inside the program.
And let’s start off with none other than the new face of the franchise himself.
QB Byrum Brown
No one should be surprised that Brown has been doing a good job of leading this offense in fall camp — this is his fourth year in the system, and he’s had time to work through any newness from being in a different environment over the last few months. But it goes beyond pure familiarity and even his dual-threat abilities on the field.
