Here are the states of each position group, the players making moves and the areas of focus with two just weeks of preseason remaining.
AUBURN — The third week of Auburn football’s preseason camp is now underway, and now is the time where things start to narrow down for the Tigers.
Game prep for a significant season opener on a Friday night at Baylor is coming up soon, so Auburn is finding out which players it is going to be able to rely on when the action starts to count.
And what better way to get a top-to-bottom look at Auburn’s roster heading into a make-or-break season than by talking to every single assistant coach?
Over the last few days, we’ve had the opportunity to hear from all 11 of Hugh Freeze’s assistant coaches. They gave us their take on their individual position groups, the state of the offense and the defense and the players who are making moves as we close in on just a couple of weeks until the opening trip to Waco.

Derrick Nix — Offensive Coordinator and Running Backs Coach
The offense as a whole is “on track” for where they want to be in the preseason. The effort levels are strong for the offense across the board in practices. The goal between now and the start of the season is to “iron out the details,” particularly with the passing game. “We've gotten almost everything in and installed. I think the big thing I notice is that our quarterbacks know where our receivers are on every concept. I'm seeing them get to their first read and get the ball out, and get to their fifth and sixth read and get the ball out. Guys getting to the proper depths, guys reading zone and man to get to the right areas.”
