It’s time for the fourth annual edition of the football roster tracker here at The Auburn Observer.

Over the next several months, this post will be updated hundreds of times, tracking every incoming and outgoing move on the Tigers’ roster for the 2024 season. Draft declarations, transfers, high school and JUCO recruits — all of them will be covered right here, position-by-position. Go ahead and bookmark it.

This tracker will evolve a ton over time, but this second signing day edition is broken down into a few parts: scholarship players currently set to come back for the 2024 season (including those who haven’t announced anything yet), departures from the 2023 season, current 2024 commitments and notable targets.

Two important things, as always: First, this is not an official scholarship count. Teams keep those numbers and all the math that goes into them close to the vest. A lot of movement will be happening, so the numbers might not always line up. Early on, this tracker will be less about the numbers and more about the state of the units.

Case in point: Auburn has more than 85 players on this current chart, but there are so many decisions to be made between now and then. (It also helps that there’s no longer any hard 25-man count for incoming classes, so as long as Auburn’s at 85 or lower by the start of next season, it’ll be fine.)

Second, I’m not a recruiting expert. Any reported targets listed with each position group are thanks in large part to the reporting of the excellent recruiting writers for 247Sports, Rivals and On3. (For recruit rankings and visit info in this piece specifically, I will lean on the public 247 database.)
