Auburn football isn't quite done in the transfer portal
The Tigers' work in rounding out the 2024 roster is "about over." But Hugh Freeze says he's got a couple of positions still in mind.
Good morning. This newsletter is a few hours later than usual, as we were up (extremely) early on Wednesday morning to talk to Hugh Freeze before his tee time at the Regions Tradition Celebrity Pro-Am in Hoover. We should be back to regularly scheduled programming for the rest of the week.

HOOVER — The spring transfer portal window in football wasn’t as eventful as the larger one in December — especially compared to what some people hyped it up as being last month — but it’s still been a productive one for Auburn.
The Tigers addressed major needs at wide receiver and defensive line, and they’ve had to react to departures across their depth chart as they build for both the 2024 season and beyond.
While the window has closed for players wanting to enter the portal, those who are already on the move still have time to make their decisions as the spring switches into the summer.
That’s also true in basketball, where Bruce Pearl and his staff are expected to host a pair of major transfer portal targets in Samford forward Achor Achor and UTSA guard Jordan Ivy-Curry sometime this week.
When it comes to Hugh Freeze and the Auburn football program, most of the work is done. But there’s still room for more, and he’s got his sights set on a couple of positions as they work to finalize the 2024 roster.
Here’s what Freeze had to say about the Tigers’ efforts in the portal — including some insights on the major signings from earlier in the window — before his round in the Celebrity Pro-Am at the Regions Tradition golf tournament in Hoover early Wednesday morning.
