Observations: Georgia 91, Auburn 86
"They were quicker than we were. They were more powerful, more explosive. We looked like we were a step slow all night."
HC Bruce Pearl (Shanna Lockwood/Auburn Athletics)
The start spoke volumes.
That doesn’t always happen with Auburn basketball this season. The Tigers have raced out to big leads, only to blow them. They’ve also rebounded from slow starts to get impressive wins.
But something felt different about the start Tuesday night against Georgia. A team that Auburn beat by 18 points on the road just three weeks earlier was hitting from everywhere early. Auburn struggled to string any sort of offense together inside the first 10 minutes and fell behind by double-digits twice.
The points never stopped coming from Georgia. The comeback never happened. Auburn never led. The only tie came in the first 22 seconds of the contest, before Georgia hit its first shot. It could have been worse, but it was still an ugly 91-86 home loss to a bitter rival.
