Why Auburn football fans should get more excited about Chas Nimrod
He was USF's No. 5 player in catches last season, but don't let that fool you. The senior transfer checks a ton of boxes for the Tigers.
AUBURN — A lot was made this offseason about not only USF star quarterback Byrum Brown following Alex Golesh to Auburn — but the Tigers landing Brown’s top three receivers from last season as well.
Keshaun Singleton was the No. 1, grabbing 50 catches for 877 yards and eight touchdowns. The similarly sized Jeremiah Koger had 38 receptions for 597 yards and the same number of scores as a freshman. And then there’s Christian Neptune, a freshman slot receiver who had caught 38 balls and was second in targets.
But a little on down the stat sheet, you’ll find the receiver who could end up being the true X-factor for Auburn’s offense as it tries to set the tone for an explosive new era.
Chas Nimrod had 23 catches for 466 yards — an eye-popping 20.26 yards per reception — and three touchdowns a season ago.
Those are impressive numbers at face value, and then you realize that the only reason he wasn’t closer to Singleton’s overall production was that he missed the entire second half of the 2025 season with an injury.
“He got overlooked,” said wide receivers coach Kodi Burns, the former Auburn Tiger who followed Golesh back to his alma mater. “Because when you look at last year, he was a guy going into the season — and, really, the first few games — that was the guy. He ended up getting a lower body injury and missed a lot of time.
“He was on track to go for close to 1,200 yards.”
