Aubserver Mailbag 36: Football and Football
This week: Historical playoff scenarios, a look ahead to that Miami home-and-home, recruiting, Bo Nix, music, local food and hair dye
(Todd Van Emst/Auburn Athletics)
This is one of my favorite times in the sports calendar.
For those who don’t follow soccer, we’re currently in the midst of EURO 2020, which is a tournament featuring the top national teams in Europe. It’s usually more competitive than the World Cup, which is why it’s a blast every four years. (Five years this time, thanks to COVID-19. But UEFA still wanted to keep the 2020.)
As a busy offseason of news is starting to wind down some, the Euros are usually a great bridge for me in the early summer. They’ll end right before SEC Media Days, when football season will truly feel like it’s about to start.
This week, I got several mailbag questions that involved Auburn and EURO, which was a lot of fun. But even if you don’t watch The Beautiful Game, there’s plenty of stuff in here that isn’t soccer-related. We talk playoff formats, that new home-and-home with Miami, music, local restaurants and hairstyle decisions.
Let’s go.
We would have made the playoffs a couple…
