What is this, exactly? Why should I subscribe?
Here’s the quick pitch for The Auburn Observer: I want to take you inside the stats, strategy and stories of Auburn football and basketball.
If you’re new to Substack, this is going to be a newsletter format where new stories will be emailed directly to your inboxes after you subscribe and still live on their own website, in case you want to share links or read past posts in the archive.
My goal is to publish at least three articles per week, bumping up to four during football season. The Auburn Observer also includes a podcast with Painter Sharpless, which will have two new episodes each week.
The foundation of The Auburn Observer will be the type of stories that I’ve written over the last few years that have seemed to be well-received by Tigers fans — film rooms, weekly mailbags, postgame observations and inside-the-numbers stories. I’ll also throw in the occasional longer feature or opinion column.
Who are you?
Hello. I’m Justin Ferguson, and I’ve covered Auburn sports in some fashion every year since I was a junior in college in 2013. I previously wrote about Auburn for The Athletic, SEC Country, Bleacher Report and The Auburn Plainsman. I would like to keep writing about the Tigers for a living, which brings us to The Auburn Observer.
Alright, so how much does this cost?
Access to all stories and podcasts at The Auburn Observer is $6 per month or $60 for a full year.
The early-week episodes of the podcast, usually posted on Sundays, are free and available wherever you listen to podcasts. Subscribers get a premium podcast during the week, usually on Wednesday or Thursdays.
What if I have more questions about this later?
