Good morning, y’all. No new newsletter this morning, but make sure you check out The Stretch 4 I posted yesterday afternoon from talking to Bruce Pearl at Lake Martin — there’s a ton of stuff in there about Auburn basketball’s ever-changing roster, including some NBA Draft and transfer chatter.
I tweeted this last night, but a) not everyone is on Twitter and b) some of y’all are new here, so I wanted to put it out in an email this morning at our usual time:
This week is the annual EDSBS Charity Bowl, run by our CFB Internet friends Spencer Hall and Holly Anderson of the legendary Shutdown Fullcast.
The Charity Bowl raises money for New American Pathways, an organization in Atlanta that helps new refugees settle here in the United States and help them all they way through their path to citizenship. It’s an amazing cause that’s very dear to my heart, and it’s based in a city that’s quite special to me and my family.
Those who give to the Charity Bowl attach their favorite college football team to their donations, and there’s a giant running scoreboard for the schools that give the most each year. People usually try to tie in a rivalry game score or some sort of sports-related number to their donations, just to make it spicy.
On Monday, Auburn got off to a very slow start and is just inside the top 100 overall. But there’s plenty of room — and time — to improve those numbers.
As we’ve done since we started The Observer, 100% of the money we get from any new subscriptions this week will be donated to the Charity Bowl for Auburn on Friday afternoon.
So, if you’ve been on the fence about subscribing, know that every bit of your subscription money will go directly to a great cause if you sign up between now and Friday. You can do so by clicking the button below.
And, if you would like to give a gift subscription to a friend or family member, all of that money this week will go to the Charity Bowl as well. Click the button below to get started.
For those of you who are already Inner Circle members, you can get some free time added onto your Observer subscription by emailing me proof of your Charity Bowl donation to the1andonlyJF@gmail.com. You can donate directly to the Charity Bowl by — you guessed it — clicking the button below.
So, let’s raise some money and help new families here in the South, all in the name of college sports pride. Don’t let Alabama blow you out on the scoreboard here.

(Programming notes: I’ll have a fresh newsletter out on Wednesday morning, and we’ll have a premium podcast — and possibly another newsletter — on Thursday morning. The mailbag is back on Friday, and you can send in your questions to the1andonlyJF@gmail.com. I’ve got several great questions that I have left over from last week, but I can always use more.)
