Here are some No-Huddle Notes on Auburn football’s biggest transfer portal pickup to date.
It’s a quick snapshot, for Observer subscribers only, of what the Tigers are getting in the newcomer before they arrive on campus and get going with the team.
And it’s none other than Jackson Arnold, the former 5-star quarterback who had an up-and-down 2024 season at Oklahoma before deciding to take a reset elsewhere.
Right off the top, Auburn fans might look at this pickup and say “that’s it?” Auburn was expected to be in the market for the top available names in the portal, and in years past, it’s been eventual Heisman contenders like Cam Ward, Dillon Gabriel or… Bo Nix. But this has been a slow quarterback market to date, and Auburn didn’t feel like it could afford to wait around and see if others would jump into the portal later. Arnold is one of the best available quarterbacks, period.
