By the way, don’t really have an issue with the second half. The plays they called would have worked to move the chains, but the execution wasn’t there either by penalty or cutting the routes off too short. And State shortened the second half. Defense needs to tighten up a little bit, but the strategy works well for the next two weeks (and to an extent Alabama too but not sure if the personnel is there.) I’m glad to see Auburn improve to inconsistent. That means there are flashes of good and really good.
I didn’t mind Freeze taking air out of the ball. But I try not to second guess a win.
I was afraid that we were going to get flagged for intentional grounding on that one throw out of end zone. I guess the referees figured “to whom it may concern” was an eligible receiver in the area.
Also our last play (really non-play cause of PI penalty) before victory formation was a deep throw towards the end zone. I was like “why throw the ball”.
I agree with the assessment that if MSU was threatening to make this a track meet then more
tempo would be needed. I also wouldn’t bitch if we had gone for it on 4th down close to midfield --even if it failed.
After two years of MSU lighting us up glad to get win.
Can’t believe State rotates off of our schedule next year. I probably pull for State more than any other non-Auburn SEC team.
